Android phones use the open-source Android operating system developed by Google and is also used on Android tablets. They offer similar features to the iPhone range, including high-resolution touchscreens, Internet access, still and video cameras media playback and access to a range of downloadable Apps.
Android versions are named after dessert dishes – the current version (late 2012) is Android 4.1, also known as Jelly Bean. Phones are available at a variety of prices, ranging from under £70 to over £500.
Android phones are available from a range of manufacturers, including HTC and Samsung, whose latest model, the Galaxy S3 (shown in the image) is currently a market leader. It is powered by quad-core processor and has a 4.8-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1,280.
